In my dealings with John Franklin over the past 10 years, I have been consistently impressed by John’s willingness to 'go the extra mile' for his clients. John’s professionalism and concern for his clients makes him the ideal accountant for both individuals and businesses.
After just 4 weeks as a new client of Franklin & Company, John Franklin called my office, my cell phone, my beeper, so when I got off the plane in Chicago I knew something was up. John explained to me that he had reviewed my past tax returns. He asked me if I wanted him to prepare amended returns pursuant to a new tax law that would result in a refund of over $100,000. I love phone calls like that!
My business partner of many years and several ongoing ventures and I decided to go our own separate ways. Rather than pursue legal action, we both agreed and trusted John Franklin to mediate the split of our legal entities and other interests. He did it professionally and fairly.
Franklin & Company was our accounting firm from 1998 until my father and I sold the business in 2006. John was a trusted advisor all those years. When we were approached by a publicly traded company to sell the business, we turned to John because of his corporate background to lead us through the process, including working with attorneys on the agreement, coordinating due diligence and handling sensitive personnel issues. We were approached on March 1 and the deal had to be done by March 31st in time for the first quarter earnings release. John got it done with our staff, working sometimes until 2 in the morning because the deal coincided with tax season!
We were referred to Franklin & Company by a friend. We were concerned that we were paying too much tax, but could not get the attention from the CPA firm we had been with for years. John explained that one of the problems was our corporate structure as a C Corporation. He converted us to an S Corporation, worked with us on other internal issues and saved us taxes and heartache.
I have had the pleasure of serving businesses and residents of the Nature Coast for the past 15 years. Never has there ever been the need for more of a focus on one’s financial self. This can be merely protecting existing business segments or personal financial planning. I believe there is great opportunity for those that pay attention to changes in the political and economic climate, whether worldwide or locally and take the time to reflect on how an individual’s knowledge and skills can be utilized to benefit from these dynamic times. There are so many distractions in everyday life that those that discipline themselves to be alert to the business and economic environment and manage their affairs to be able to respond quickly to opportunity will have a better chance to secure their financial self.
